NBCUniversal's Peacock is coming to YouTube. The two companies announced a multiyear deal on Monday that will fold Peacock into YouTube Premium subscriptions in the US beginning in early 2027, at no extra cost to subscribers.
According to CNBC's Lillian Rizzo, whose report was also highlighted by Techmeme, the agreement covers the entirety of Peacock's content — including NBC Sports' portfolio and movies. The Verge reports that Premium subscribers will be able to stream Peacock's ad-supported shows, movies, and live sports directly through the YouTube app. Engadget likewise frames it as ad-supported Peacock arriving free for Premium subscribers early next year, which is worth noting: the perk described is the tier with commercials, not Peacock's pricier ad-free plan.
The practical effect is that a subscription people mostly buy to skip ads on YouTube videos and to get YouTube Music now doubles as a general-purpose streaming service, with live sports attached. For NBCUniversal, it puts Peacock in front of an audience that already opens the YouTube app every day, without having to convince anyone to sign up separately or remember another password.
Neither the sources here specify pricing changes to YouTube Premium, how the Peacock catalog will be presented inside YouTube, or whether existing Peacock subscribers get anything from the arrangement — those details aren't in the announcements as reported.
The deal is a sign of where streaming is heading: instead of a dozen apps each demanding their own monthly fee, the big platforms are becoming storefronts that bundle rivals' libraries inside a single subscription, which means the app you already pay for may quietly become the place you watch everything.
