A new AI model from Chinese startup Moonshot AI is drawing global attention for coding feats that challenge assumptions about America's lead in artificial intelligence.
According to Crypto Briefing, Moonshot's Kimi K3 wrote a CUDA kernel — low-level code that runs on Nvidia's H100 chips — that executed 14.82 times faster than a standard PyTorch implementation. CUDA kernels are the specialized routines that squeeze maximum performance out of GPUs, so writing faster ones is a demanding test of an AI model's technical skill.
