Anthropic has released Claude Science, an AI "workbench" built to speed up scientific research, the company announced. According to Anthropic, the tool pulls research databases, coding pipelines, and other tools into a single environment so scientists can work without constantly switching between them.
The problem it targets is a familiar one in labs. According to Anthropic, scientists often lose time moving between research databases, coding tools, notebooks, and high-performance computers. Claude Science aims to fold those scattered steps into one place, which Anthropic and outlets including Newsbytes describe as a more "seamless" setup for computational work.
The product is also a clear play for the drug industry. NDTV Profit reported that Anthropic is betting on AI-powered drug discovery with the new program. CNBC framed it as Anthropic launching an AI drug discovery program and "joining tech giants in betting on healthcare" — a signal that the company sees pharmaceutical and biotech research as a major market.
Beyond running analyses, the tool is pitched as a writing and publishing aid. According to MSN's coverage, Claude Science can generate publication-ready figures, manuscripts, and scientific visuals, potentially taking on tasks that normally sit at the end of the research process.
Bloomberg reported that Claude Science is aimed at automating research, and Anthropic says the workbench is now available.
