AMD is officially rolling out its FSR 4.1 upscaling technology to Radeon RX 7000-series graphics cards today, extending a feature that helps games run more smoothly to a wider set of owners.

Upscaling tech like FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) renders a game at a lower resolution and then intelligently fills in detail to make it look sharper, letting a graphics card push higher frame rates without as much raw work. AMD's RX 7000 cards are built on the company's RDNA 3 architecture, which The Verge notes is an older generation than AMD's newest hardware.

The key to today's release is how AMD made it work on these cards. According to Tom's Hardware, AMD is shipping an INT8 version of the FSR 4.1 model — a "fallback" that runs on the RX 7000 series — and it is now available in more than 300 games. Owners simply need to update their graphics driver to start using it.

The rollout isn't stopping at desktop cards. Tom's Hardware reports that RDNA 3 APUs — processors that combine a CPU and graphics in one chip — are also set to get FSR 4.1 soon.

There's fresh game support too. The Verge reports that Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced will support FSR 4.1 on day one.
