The Headline Number

We're tracking 3,597 open AI/ML roles today. The distribution is lopsided in a way worth planning around: Europe accounts for 1,790 roles (49.8%), the US for 1,314 (36.5%), and India for 463 (12.9%). Everything else is a rounding error — 23 roles across the rest of the world and 7 in the UAE.

Europe Is the Volume Market

Europe's lead isn't just startups. German-language postings dominate the sample: an AI/MLOps team lead at IT & Internet Karriere, a Generative AI/Agentic AI engineer at Orizon working on the Airbus account, an AI Engineer role at Brillux in Münster, and a Senior AI Engineer at Redcare Pharmacy. Reply Deutschland SE alone has 28 openings. The pattern: established European industrials and mid-caps hiring their first or second wave of production ML people, not frontier labs.

The US: Finance Is Doing the Hiring

Capital One is the single largest employer on the board with 213 open roles — nearly 6% of everything tracked, including Lead Machine Learning Engineer positions on its Enterprise Platforms Technology team. Behind it: Booz Allen Hamilton (67), J.P. Morgan (38), Leidos (26), and State Street, which is staffing a Generative AI Platform Manager at VP level in Burlington. Banks, insurers, and defense contractors — not consumer tech — are the reliable US volume. General Motors (38) and Stellantis show autos are staffing data science teams too. Google has 35 listed.

Role Types That Actually Repeat

Three clusters cover most of the board:

  • Generative/agentic AI engineer — the fastest-growing title. Micron, Afficiency, Citigroup (junior level), and STS Worldwide are all hiring against RAG, agent frameworks, and Google ADK.
  • Classic ML engineer / data scientist — still the largest bucket, from graduate trainee roles up through staff.
  • Applied and adjacent — MLOps leads, AI solutions consultants, ServiceNow Virtual Agent developers, and AI enablement associates at J.P. Morgan. Not every AI job requires training models.

Note the recruiter share: Jobgether (73), Anson Mccade (27), and Collective.work (28) are intermediaries, so some listings appear more than once across boards.
