The headline number
We're tracking 4,488 open AI/ML roles today. The board is not evenly spread — two employers alone account for more than one in ten listings.
Where the roles are
Europe leads with 2,109 roles (47%), ahead of the US at 1,735 (39%) and India at 596 (13%). Everything else is a rounding error: 36 roles across the rest of world and 12 in the UAE. If you are geo-flexible, Europe is where the volume is — but note that a chunk of it is German-language (postings tagged m/w/d, e.g. Optica Abrechnungszentrum and Creditreform), so language is a real filter, not a formality.
Who's hiring hardest
Capital One (246) and Bespoke Labs (221) together post 467 roles — roughly 10% of the entire board. Behind them: Jobgether (80), Booz Allen Hamilton (64), General Motors (56), Reply Deutschland SE (47), BC Forward (42), EnthuZiastic (41), J.P. Morgan (40), Europace Ratenkredit (40), Google (38), Deloitte (34).
Two patterns stand out. First, financial services is the biggest AI buyer: Capital One, J.P. Morgan, Barclays and Bank of America all appear, and Capital One's Card Tech org is hiring leads and senior managers specifically. Second, a large slice of postings is intermediated by staffing and consulting firms — Jobgether, BC Forward, Hays, Trigyn, Guidant Global, IO Associates. Expect a recruiter screen before you see the actual employer.
What the jobs actually are
"Senior Machine Learning Engineer" is the single most common title, and the seniority skew is heavy — Lead, Sr Lead, Principal and Senior Manager postings outnumber junior ones badly.
The growth category is AI tooling and testing: AI Tooling Engineer at Whatnot, AI Tools & Testing Architect, SDETs asked for AWS, Java and LLM experience, and full-stack leads pairing .NET/C#/React with AI tools. Generative AI titles show up as strategy roles at banks and as engineering roles in India.
Also worth noting: AI sales roles are now a category, from krea.ai's Enterprise AI Creative Tools AE to Salesforce account executives. And the public sector is in the market — Gemeente Amsterdam is hiring data scientists.
Practical read
If you're mid-level, target the staffing firms and European postings for volume. If you're senior, Capital One and the banks are the deepest single pipelines right now.
