The Headline Number

We're tracking 4,470 open AI/ML roles today. The distribution is lopsided in a way that keeps surprising people who assume the US dominates AI hiring.

Regional Breakdown

Europe leads with 2,095 roles — roughly 47% of everything tracked, and about 370 more than the US. The US sits at 1,727 (39%), India at 599 (13%), with 37 in the rest of world and 12 in the UAE.

The European share isn't just UK-based English-language listings. German-language postings are everywhere in the data: Teamleiter KI-Entwicklung at Optica Abrechnungszentrum, a doctoral position in foundation models and agentic AI for industrial automation at Bosch, a junior PM role in AI-driven procurement at Voith. French postings show up too — Groupe PSA is hiring an AI Machine Learning Optimization Engineer, and Stass Conseil wants a technical ML project engineer. If you read German or French, your effective market is meaningfully larger than the English-only listings suggest.

Who's Actually Hiring

Capital One tops the list at 246 openings, followed by Bespoke Labs at 213 — those two alone account for about 10% of everything tracked. Bespoke Labs is posting repeat Machine Learning Engineer roles, so treat that headcount as concentrated rather than spread across many titles.

After the top two there's a steep drop: Jobgether (76), Booz Allen Hamilton (61), General Motors (56), Reply Deutschland SE (47), BC Forward (45), EnthuZiastic (41), then J.P. Morgan and Europace Ratenkredit tied at 40, Google at 38, and Collective.work at 36.

Note what that list is not: it's not dominated by AI labs. Banking (Capital One, J.P. Morgan), automotive (GM), defense and government consulting (Booz Allen), and staffing firms (BC Forward, Apex Systems, Trigyn) make up the bulk. Traditional enterprises are doing the volume hiring.

Role Types Worth Knowing

Three clusters dominate:

  • Core ML engineering — Machine Learning Engineer, Staff Applied Scientist (Rokt), Lead ML Engineer IC (Capital One), training-optimization specialists.
  • Generative AI and agents — Generative AI Architect, Agent Technologies, and an Oracle GenAI Associate VP role at Deloitte. Agentic AI is now appearing in research roles, not just product ones.
  • AI-adjacent roles for non-ML people — SDETs testing LLM systems, .NET/C# tech leads building AI tooling, marketing managers for AI-native products, procurement analytics leads at Novartis.

That third cluster matters: a growing share of "AI jobs" want existing software, data, or business skills plus working familiarity with AI tools — not a research background.
