The headline numbers

We're tracking 4,766 open AI/ML roles today. The split is lopsided toward Europe: 2,306 roles (48%), followed by the US at 1,556 (33%) and India at 866 (18%). Everything else is a rounding error — 27 roles across the rest of the world and 11 in the UAE.

If you've been assuming the US is where AI hiring happens, the board says otherwise. Europe posts roughly 1.5 open roles for every US listing.

Who's actually hiring

Bespoke Labs leads with 174 openings, well ahead of Capital One (157) — a reminder that banks are among the most aggressive AI employers, not just labs. Jobgether (84) and BC Forward (49) are aggregators/staffing firms, so treat those counts as pipelines rather than single teams.

The rest of the top tier: Booz Allen Hamilton (66), Reply Deutschland SE (56), General Motors (56), EnthuZiastic (49), Google (40), Europace Ratenkredit GmbH (40), J.P. Morgan (38), and Deloitte (36).

Notice the pattern: consultancies (Reply, Booz Allen, Deloitte), financial services (Capital One, J.P. Morgan), and a carmaker (GM) outnumber pure AI labs. Enterprise adoption, not frontier research, is driving volume.

Role types worth knowing

Three titles dominate:

  • Machine Learning Engineer — the highest-frequency title by far, appearing at G-Research, xAI (Safety), Bespoke Labs, Vermelo RPO, and SSI People.
  • Data Scientist — spanning L'Oréal Research & Innovation, Gemeente Amsterdam (yes, municipal government), and Infosys Finacle.
  • Generative AI / Agentic Systems Engineer — the fastest-growing category, and heavily German-language: Alexander Thamm, SBK Siemens-Betriebskrankenkasse, and Reply all post (m/w/d) GenAI roles. Citigroup is hiring a VP-level GenAI application lead in Europe.

Two practical notes. First, a meaningful share of European listings are German-language postings — worth filtering for if you don't read German. Second, the India segment skews differently: alongside Data Scientist roles, you'll find AI-adjacent content work like AI SEO Specialist, Video Editor, and Content Manager. Lower barrier to entry, different career track.

Also visible: entry points that aren't senior-only. KPN is running an AI Agents internship, and there are AI Data Associate roles for bilingual speakers.
